Avni Er, turkish citizen held in Italy, is at risk of forced return to Turkey where they may face torture or other ill-treatment.

Avni Er is currently being held in a Center for identification and expulsion (CIE) in the city of Bari His lawyers have lodged an appeal against the refusal of his application for asylum and international protection. The European Court of Human Rights has ordered the Italian authorities not to proceed with the expulsion of Avni Er until the first instance decision on his request for asylum and international protection has been taken. His lawyers have asked the Court to extend the order until the decision on the appeal.
