Both petitioners, two months ago, the Memorandum of Understanding together with the agricultural associations of the territory CIA, Coldiretti, Fedagri, Confcooperative Legacoop food and that they should absorb some of the African workers in the countryside near Rome. But this did not happen.
Yesterday all agreed that the agreement could be "improved." Confagricoltura but wanted to clarify that he "respected the agreements and followed up on the protocol." A position disputed by the assembly of workers that, said one protester, "Do not just send a fax to promote the initiative, we need a serious pressure on farmers. "
Protesters numbers on their side: the companies in the province of Rome called an addition of 1,300 seasonal workers in order flows. The list of Rosarno immigrants with residence permit is made up of just over 100 people. It seems, then, that more could be done. The protest, however, some effort has torn:
business within seven days of the assembly workers will meet again and provincial associations signed the agreement, this time also with the unions. A meeting in which, hopefully, an effective mechanism be established to find real jobs.
Even so, Meanwhile, many immigrants have left for new seasons collection.
course black. In the future there is still Rosarno. Among them also Mohamed, 25 years, I have no money in his pocket. In a few weeks I will have to also go in Rosario, where they gave me two euro and fifty per box of tomatoes that gathered daily. I could make it six, seven, depended on the strength. "
For him, as for others, the Protocol was an opportunity seriously. And now they say: "To give thanks, we'll wait to see concrete results."
